South Johnstone Showcase 2024
Video of the South Johnstone Showcase at Innisfail in 2024; a joint event hosted by Sugar Research Australia (SRA) and Cassowary Coast Reef Smart Farming (CCRSF). SRA District Manager Herbert, Phil Patane, began the day with an outline of South Johnstone’s productivity goals, as well as other major objectives contained within the area’s District Plan. The day received broad positive feedback from growers in attendance, listening to presentations from SRA researchers on latest project
activities including the Northern Breeding Program, the Beyond Imidacloprid and Soldier Fly projects, and a region-specific weed management update on balsam pear and nuava sedge. The showcase also included displays of a purpose-built bed former, as well as an automated harvester sterilisation system being trialled by SRA, to limit transmission of Ratoon Stunting Disease (RSD) - read more about this project in SRA's Cane Matters Winter 2024 edition:

What tool ate you using to sharpen the cane knives,
Very informative
VERY GOOD VIDEO. IT HELPS ME TO MOVE FORWARD TO SUDY AGRI-SCIENCE. STILL STUDY AT PAPUA NEW GUINEA UNIVERSITY OF NATURAL RESOURCE AND ENVIRONMENT
is that before planting???
Very nice!!!
I’m a big fan of SRA from Thailand. Hope one day I will be visited there. I would like to improve my sugarcane farm.❤❤❤
Sir variety sugararcane
I got hoteche brand China made good thickness 2mm by 14inch knife and Brazilian made Tramontina long slim blade machete. OK both are good blades compared to thin like 1mm Trumpeter cane knives going around in the market nowdays. Sharpening on both sides should go down in one direction. This video shows the correct directions of sharpening for the right-handed user, but for left handed knife is switched to sharp in two different directions, so is that right or wrong.
Good machine from John Deere
Customer Premise Equipment - CPE's Tp-Link or Ubiquiti both manufacture cheap weatherproof units and come with a long warranties for peace of mind, CPE's provide a hassle free way of long-distance high band width data transfer - data transfer can be ip camera or internet or any other form of data, sonoff wifi switches provide an easy way of wirelessly controlling valves, gates or other irrigation equipment. Cameras provide an easy way to pan/tilt zoom remotely for visual confirmation of bottom end water with the add benefit of farm security. the best part of CPE's is they can point to multi point function meaning you can use your business/home internet to supply the entire network of cpe's, cameras and sonoff switches to allow for connection whether you're in Australia or halfway across the globe. not to mention if you fit a CPE to your tractor or Ute you can connect into the network (range permitting but anywhere from 1km to 100kms depending on the CPE chosen without phone reception) tplink cpe/wbs
all you need to do now is increase the volume of cane to get a true representation as we can see that the rollers arent anywhere near their stoppers, this video is a close representation of a 12 blade as the input volume/mat of cane is at its thinness as the roller speed is high, in real life situation we would see thicker input with either an 10 or 8 compared to a 12 so we would start to see higher dirt/trash levels trap between the mat of cane as each throw of cane would be more with less blades
even shows the short billets/sugar loss that is extracted by the primary
How many tonnes are you getting for one acre in yr country sir. Here just 50 to 60 tones even we take more care.
Dear sir my location is Tamil Nadu in India.our side is facing the problem of eye spot.Intial time leaves turned in to yellow later affected whole land .pls advice me how to control n solve the problem.

Dear Molly, thanks for sharing your experience in sugarcane .
Thanks for sharing. What are the possible reasons for sugarcane flowering in the field?
Great🌹
Pls How to get more tonnages from sugarcane cultivation.pls give give information for one acre.
Can someone help me I really want to start a sugercane farm
I am an expert in sugar cane farming from planting to harvest. I am also an expert in processing sugar cane into brown sugar. If I can provide a visa, I am ready to help
I am from Indonesia
If your pushing against the lean it won’t matter what spirals you have. It’ll always push it up and over the top cut with the lean it’ll always pull it in. And your ground feed speed is governed by how efficient the elevator removes the cane. too fast in big cane it’ll boil over at the bootAnd jamming up the tub
Excellent and very informative
Your services are Awesome. Can you share your Email Address. I require data regarding sugarcane fuzz, advanced lines and varieties characteristics.
I want to go there to visit and would like to see how the farm there look like and how they perform the sugarcane farm. I’m from thailand
I’m from thailand, now it’s rain my sugarcane is growing up, hope the price will good as well in this year

Awesome system
How much organic carbon percentage required
Do Queenslanders still use cane knives for harvesting I thought everyone uses machines now to harvest cane in Queensland
Green cane is often cut into short billets for planting the next year's crop. :-)
How to calculate required heat transfer area

In 1990 saw some swine eating fermented Bagasse in Japan.. its not processed in anyway for digestibility, other than fermented with bacteria.. I have been feeding raw, fermented bagasse to cattle in Japan and the Philippines ever since (30% of their diet).. Its awesome for feeder cattle and breeders/calves as well, but I have never fed the same animal for more than 3 years (since I rotate and slaughter all of my animals).. old technology and you dont need to spend money to process it.. just ferment it and feed it.. keep it simple
How much crude protein after the fermentation process
@@fikrinajibideris9049 I don't know. I used it for the purpose of roughage and feed wheat and rice bran and corn as well. 2kg each (total 6kg feed) I don't include the wheat bran and corn in the bagasse silage, and just add it at feeding time. Good luck.
@@japanesetranslator1122 oh..that mean the cp is from the rice bran and corn. Im doing cassava as animal feed now, looking for cheap source of protein to be added with the cassava chip
With the current drought looming how best do you ferment? How many days of fermentation do you need? Lastly how many kgs do you feed per day per cow??
@@yakubbachu7385 I supposed 3 weeks is best, but I used to ferment with my own special serum "EM mixture made from rice, rice bran, molasses (any sugar will do), and just store it in 55 gallon (200L drums (metal or Plastic, and seal the top airtight with plastic and duct tape. You can mix 60-70 kg of raw bagasse, and 15kg rice bran, and 5kg of corn. Sugar cane tops are also nice if you can get some (dont know where you live :). You wont win any livestock awards, but your animals will live and be healthy.. You can give 50% of your ration with the above. get a 5 gallon bucket (20L) and fill it and packet as tight as you can, and thats how much you can feed each animal (cow) about 3-5K of dry matter.
Nice.
Nice
Bonjour, Australian Cane Learning Centre. this is beautifully excellent video. thank. :)
Bloody beautiful..I just bought the long handle 13inch tramontina..for the zombie apocalypse jihad.and also to give my garden a bit of a touch up.cant wait to let it rip..pray for me brothers of the cane and bananas..
